The 1960’s 45m2 apartment renovation completed in 2020 was predominately focusing on the choreography of flooring materials and the relationship or jointing between the room-areas created. Pre- existing terazzo floor was maintained and enhanced in the Kitchen, while a round shaped area, reminiscent of a “carpet”, was exposed in the entry hall set apart from the new cementitious flooring. The living room area was bordered by a angled patterned new solid wood flooring. Wall woodwork paneling and the double door leading to the bedroom has been patterned to echo the 60’s Athenian art -deco motifs but in a more minimal aesthetic, while all walls have been white painted to bring out the floor rich patterns and colors. A purpose made niche was designed in the kitchen area to accommodate a dinning table practically not taking up space from the kitchen tight area. The bathroom and in-between storage area was completely re-created taking into account space restrictions and functionality demands.
